Founded in 2011, LEVEL bridges the gap between the able-bodied community and the differently-abled community through education and teamwork. Through LEVEL, a student network provides help in and out of the classroom, initiates the development of friendships, and changes the way people view ability. We work closely with the Office of Disability Services on campus to involve students, faculty, and members of the outside community to help in our efforts. Whether it’s helping with homework, hanging out on the weekends, or just saying, “Hey, how’s it going?” on the rush to class, together, we are leveling the playing field. We are vital because we provide a venue for all abilities to be recognized and allowed to flourish. Every semester, we host educational and social events that bring together people of all abilities on campus and from the local community to target and change stereotypes, to raise awareness, and to break through the barriers of able-ism.
